Today’s guest is Ken Salyer, Founder and CEO of wall covering distributor Tri-Kes. Ken and I explore the importance of culture and how they have intentionally nurtured a culture based on a joint set of beliefs the organization lives everyday.
Ken describes that the speed with which people in the organization have to make decisions mandate a values based culture. There is no hierarchy of a decision, he suggests. You want to put the person who is face-to-face with the customer and empower them to make a decision, and if they’re going to make decisions at that level and at that speed, you better have the right values to make that call for that customer.
Ken describes the values that guide his organization … and be sure to listen to the end because I ask Ken about the philosophy behind their annual company meeting. I had a chance to speak at this meeting earlier this year and saw something very unique … and I want you to learn about it as well.
